Dr. Dennis Edelbrock, Executive Director

"Hailed by the Washington Post as performing..."with reckless abandon;"
and with..."incredible technique," Dr. Dennis Edelbrock has been a musical staple in our nation's history for more than 3 decades.

Enlisting in 1975, Edelbrock has been a member of the US Army Band "Pershing's Own" performing with the ceremonial band, herald trumpets, and is a founding member of the US Army Brass Quintet, our nation's premier quintet. He has entertained every President since Gerald Ford at the White House, and for visiting dignitaries at the Capitol and various embassies. The US Army Brass Quintet has been repeatedly chosen as the first to perform honors for newly inaugurated Presidents, and has had the honor of paying musical respect for Presidents Reagan and Ford during nationally televised state funerals. As a performer with the Army Band, Edelbrock has also performed on Emeril Live!, The Today Show, Prarie Home Companion, NPR, CBS, and BBC, among others. As a composer, Edelbrock's works have been performed at official state ceremonies at the White House, International Olympic events, and national television specials. Above all, Edelbrock has played final honors for countless heros at Arlington National Ceremony and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Away from the military, Edelbrock has positioned himself as one of the premier trumpeters in our nation's capital. He has been principal trumpet for the Kennedy Center's Washington Chamber Symphony for over 20 years, and has been a frequent soloist on NPR, performing over 100 radio broadcasts with the National Gallery Orchestra. He has performed with the Metropolitan Opera, the National Symphony Orchestra (with whom he has recorded), the Kennedy Center Opera Orchestra, the Bolshoi and Kirov Ballet, the Boston Pops, and was the trumpet soloist for the world's first web-cast of Handel's "Messiah".

Dr. Dennis Edelbrock received his B.M. from Iowa, and his M.M. and D.M.A. from The Catholic University of America.
